SCAR THERAPY

Supporting the Body and mind to Recovery

What is Scar Therapy?

Scar therapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment designed to improve the health and function of scar tissue.

Using the RESTORE Scar Therapy method, I apply advanced massage techniques to soften and remodel the tissue. This enhances circulation, reduces tightness, and restores movement by gently releasing adhesions and encouraging better tissue alignment.

Scar therapy is suitable for scars caused by surgery, burns, injury, or trauma.
It can help ease pain, itching, and hypersensitivity, while also supporting emotional recovery and improving the appearance of the scar itself.

Treatment can usually begin from 8 weeks post-surgery or injury, provided the scar has healed well and with approval from your GP or consultant.

How Scar Tissue Affects the Body

After injury or surgery, the body naturally forms scar tissue to help heal the affected area. Collagen, a protein that helps strengthen and repair tissue, is produced during this process. However, sometimes the body produces too much collagen, leading to adhesions and fibrosis. Adhesions occur when tissue layers, such as skin, muscle, or fascia, stick together and prevent normal movement. Fibrosis, caused by excess collagen, makes the scar tissue denser and less flexible than the surrounding tissue, leading to tightness, discomfort, and restricted movement.

In some cases, nerves can be affected, causing numbness, tingling, sensitivity, or nerve-related pain.

Can Older Scars Be Treated?

Yes.

Scar therapy is suitable at any stage - whether your scar is recent or many years old.
With time and consistency, treatment can improve both the feel and function of the area - and often the appearance too.

Supporting the Whole Person

Scar therapy isn’t just about improving how tissue feels or moves.
Scars can carry emotional weight, especially when linked to surgery, trauma, or medical experiences.

For some, this may include:

  • Anxiety

  • Sensitivity around being seen or touched

  • Symptoms of PTSD

That’s why your experience is always respected. You’ll never be rushed, and your comfort is prioritised throughout.

Sometimes, the most powerful part of scar therapy is simply being heard, seen, and supported in a space that understands the full impact of what your body has been through.
